Caps Off Run Club
Weekly run club, meeting every Thursday, starting and ending at Caps Off Brewing Co.
Whether you're training to hit a new PB in your next race, or you're looking for a place to get started, make Caps Off a part of it! We are committed to creating a supportive, knowledgeable, and engaging community of runners of all experience levels.
Routes will be in and around a 4km to 10km range, but with plenty of opportunities to loop parts of the routes to add more distance.
So come out for a run and stick around to meet other runners in the St. Thomas community and enjoy some wonderful craft beer!
Thursdays
Social Run, St. Thomas
If you’re looking to get into (or back into) running or just want to see what our group is all about, Thursdays are the best place to start! We rotate through different routes each week and each route has inclusive features such as “easy mode” (a shortcut if you don’t feel ready to run the full distance) or timed out & back (everyone starts and finishes at the same time and runs whatever pace they are comfortable with).
If you’re new, we’ll make sure you never have to run alone. Nobody gets left behind!
After the run, we hope you can join us for a beverage (or two!) and some conversation. The run begins at 6:30 sharp from Caps Off Brewing, and we run various distances from 3km up to 8km. Routes are posted on Instagram and in our Facebook group weekly. This group is year round and rain or shine!
Tuesdays
Hills Training, Port Stanley
Our Tuesday night group is a bit more advanced. If you’re trying to get faster, hills are a great way to achieve that goal! This workout takes place in Port Stanley and is usually approximately one hour long.
We run up (and down!) a variety of different hills around town, with breaks for the whole group to catch up. We alternate two different routes every other week, things can get a little creative. Don’t be surprised if you end up running strides or going backwards up a hill (we swear, it’s good for you!)
We meet at Selbourne Park (the skate park on Warren st.) at 6pm (7pm in July and August) every Tuesday evening.
Weekends
Long/Trail Run
If you join us for enough Thursday social runs, you might get talked into signing up for a race. Depending on everyone’s training goals, we typically reserve Saturday mornings for a long run or trail run.
Distances and locations vary. Road runs usually start from Caps Off, trail runs are usually at Dalewood or Springwater conservation areas. Usually both a short and long option are offered for the longer runs. Trail shoes are recommended for trail runs at Dalewood. Hydration and nutrition are strongly recommended for runs longer than 10k.
